Online News - World Knowledge Dialogue
"...un grand MERCI de ta contribution si importante pour le WKD et pour la qualité du travail effectué."

In the course of our coverage for the World Knowledge Dialogue (WKD), we included a live webcast with celebrated entomologist EO Wilson and interviewed Gerald Edelman, a very interesting fellow who also won the Nobel Prize in biology.

The Symposium 2006 is an institutional initiative to bridge the gap between the natural and the human/social sciences starting from new, revolutionary discoveries with potential impact at the scale of paradigmatic changes.

To help continue the dialogue, we sat down with a number of pretty interesting folks, including:

  • Gerald M. Edelman, an American biologist who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1972 for his work on the immune system.
  • Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Member of the Max Planck Society, the Leibniz Society, the Geological Society of London, the International Research Society Sigma Xi, and the US National Academy of Sciences, and the Heisenberg Fellowship
  • Ian Hacking, a philosopher specializing in the philosophy of science, and winner of the first Killam Prize for the Humanities
  • Paul Cilliers, Professor, University of Stellenbosch, Department of Philosophy, and author of Complexity and Postmodernism (Routledge 1998).
  • Francis Waldvogel, "President emiritus of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology" and Program Director of the WKD
  • Julia Higgins, Professor of Polymer Science at Imperial College London and Dame Commander of the British Empire

The Online News for the World Knowledge Dialogue  is based on Conference Reports, a cross-sector partnership between MCART and ICVolunteers started in 2000 that directly involves volunteers in carrying results around the world. Working with our Partners CERN Multimedia Team for webcast coverage included four cameras, venue production, and television-style interviews.
